Deskew PDF is an advanced browser-based utility designed to repair scanned documents. It operates entirely on your device using WebAssembly technology, meaning your sensitive documents are processed securely without ever being uploaded to a remote server. Use this tool to fix crooked pages, remove scanning artifacts, and convert images into searchable text.
Toolbar Controls & Functions
1. Alignment Panel
- Auto-Align: Uses computer vision to detect text lines and automatically straighten the page.
- Angle Slider: Manually rotate the page between -20° and +20°.
- Fine-Tune Buttons: Adjust rotation in precise 0.1°, 0.5°, or 1° increments.
- Show Grid: Overlays a static grid to help you visually verify alignment.
2. Binarization (Black & White)
- Enable B&W: Converts color/grayscale images to strict black and white. This drastically reduces file size.
- Method - Simple: Uses a fixed threshold. Good for high-contrast scans.
- Method - Adaptive: Uses local contrast. Best for photos or scans with shadows/uneven lighting.
- Threshold Slider: Controls the sensitivity. Lower values make the image lighter; higher values make it darker.
3. Filters & Cleanup
- Sharpen: Enhances edge contrast to make blurry text readable.
- Clean Noise (Despeckle): Removes small isolated black dots (dust/dirt) from the background.
Export Options
- Make Searchable (OCR): Embeds a hidden text layer so you can search and copy/paste text from the scan.
- B&W Optimization: Converts the image to a high-efficiency 1-bit format, reducing file size by up to 90%.
