Welcome to Deskew PDF! This is a 100% offline, privacy-first document cleanup tool. It runs entirely in your browser, meaning your sensitive files are completely secure and never uploaded to any server. It is engineered to securely handle massive documents (500+ pages) locally.
1. Left Panel: Pages & Navigation
- Reorder Pages: Simply drag and drop the page thumbnails up and down to intuitively rearrange your document's order.
- Toggle View [⊞]: Switch between a single-column scroll list and a compact grid view.
- Delete Pages [✕]: Hover over any thumbnail and click the red cross in the top right to permanently remove unwanted pages.
2. Middle Panel: Preview Area
- Zoom Controls: Use the [+] and [−] buttons in the top navigation bar to safely zoom in exact 10% increments, or click [Fit] to fit the page to your screen.
- Jump to Page: Type a specific page number into the top input box (e.g., 1 / 10) and press Enter to jump to it instantly.
- Pan & Inspect: Hold the Spacebar and click-drag the document to pan around easily while zoomed in.
3. Right Panel: Properties & Tools
- Presets: Quick 1-click enhancement filters. Use [📄 Document] for standard flat scans, [📷 Camera] for uneven smartphone photos, [🧾 Receipt] for receipts, and [📚 Book] for grayscale text.
- Alignment: Click Auto-Align [✨] to let AI automatically straighten crooked pages, or use the slider and fine-tune buttons (e.g., -0.1°) for exact manual rotation. Click Reset [↺] to undo. Toggle [Show Grid] for a visual alignment guide.
- Binarization (Method): 'Simple' works best for clean flatbed scans. 'Adaptive' intelligently balances shadows and uneven lighting (perfect for smartphone photos).
- Threshold Level: Slide left for lighter text, right for darker, bolder text.
- Checkboxes: [Enable B&W] forces pure black and white. [Sharpen Text] removes blur. [Clean Noise] digitally erases stray black dust/dots from white backgrounds.
4. Workflow & Exporting
- Apply to All Pages: Perfected a single page? Click this button at the bottom to instantly copy your current rotation and filter settings to the entire document.
- Searchable (OCR): Check this box to read the text inside your images, making the final PDF fully searchable and copy-pasteable.
- B&W Optimize: Dramatically compresses the file size of your final PDF, perfect for email and sharing.
- Cancel Safely: Press the ESC key at any time during a long export to safely halt processing and return to the editor.
